Single Serving Fudgy Brownie in a Mug

Single Serving Fudgy Brownie in a Mug

  • Total Time: 3 minutes
  • Diet: Vegetarian

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter (or neutral oil)
  • 2 tablespoons milk (any variety)
  • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 pinch of salt
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 4 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons chocolate chips (optional but recommended)

Instructions

  1. Select a microwave-safe mug that holds at least 8 to 10 ounces. Pour in the melted butter, milk, and vanilla extract. Use a small whisk or a fork to stir these together until they are well combined. Starting with the liquids ensures that no dry pockets of flour get stuck at the bottom of the mug later.
  2. Add the sugar, salt, and cocoa powder to the mug. Stir vigorously until the mixture is smooth and free of large cocoa lumps. Gradually fold in the flour until just combined. Do not overmix, as this can make the brownie tough. Finally, stir in the chocolate chips to ensure every bite has a molten pocket of chocolate.
  3. Place the mug in the center of your microwave. Cook on high power for 50 to 60 seconds. The top should look slightly moist but not wet. Be careful not to overcook it, as the brownie will continue to set while it cools. Let the mug sit for at least 1 to 2 minutes before eating. This resting period is crucial for the fudgy texture to develop.
