Description

A delightful dessert that captures the nostalgic flavor of a classic creamsicle with moist orange cake soaked in vanilla pudding.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 box orange cake mix
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1/3 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 1/4 cups orange juice
  • 1 small box instant vanilla pudding mix
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 container (8 oz) whipped topping
  • 1/2 cup orange zest
  • Sprinkles (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). In a large bowl, combine the orange cake mix, eggs, vegetable oil, and orange juice. Mix well until combined.
  2. Pour the cake batter into a greased 9×13 inch baking pan. Bake according to package instructions, usually around 30 minutes. Once baked, remove from the oven and let the cake cool for about 10 minutes.
  3. Use the end of a wooden spoon to poke holes across the entire top of the cooled cake.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the instant vanilla pudding mix and milk until smooth. Pour this pudding mixture over the holes in the cake.
  5. Cover the cake and refrigerate for at least one hour.
  6. Spread the whipped topping over the pudding layer evenly. Garnish with orange zest and optional sprinkles before serving.

Notes

For an intense orange flavor, add a tablespoon of orange extract to the cake batter. Allow the cake to cool completely before poking holes.
