High Protein Cinnamon Apple Cottage Cheese Bowl Recipe

High Protein Cinnamon Apple Cottage Cheese Bowl Recipe

  • Total Time: 10 minutes
  • Diet: High Protein, Vegetarian

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup low-fat or full-fat cottage cheese
  • 1 medium Honeycrisp or Granny Smith apple, diced
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon maple syrup or honey (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon chopped walnuts or pecans
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • A pinch of sea salt
  • Non-stick cooking spray or 1/2 teaspoon coconut oil

Instructions

  1. Start by washing and dicing your apple into small, bite-sized cubes. You can leave the skin on for extra fiber or peel it if you prefer a softer texture. Measure out your cottage cheese and place it into a serving bowl. Stir in the vanilla extract and a pinch of salt to the cottage cheese to enhance its natural creaminess.
  2. Place a small skillet over medium heat and lightly coat it with cooking spray or coconut oil. Add the diced apples and sprinkle the cinnamon over the top. Sauté the apples for 3 to 5 minutes, stirring frequently, until they become tender and fragrant. If the pan looks dry, add a teaspoon of water to help steam the apples and create a light cinnamon glaze.
  3. Spoon the warm cinnamon apples directly over the chilled cottage cheese. Drizzle the maple syrup or honey over the fruit if you desire extra sweetness. Top the bowl with chopped walnuts or pecans for a necessary crunch. Serve immediately while the apples are still warm for the best experience.
