Enjoy a healthier version of the classic blooming onion, air-fried to crispy perfection with minimal oil.


Ingredients

  • 2 small sweet onions
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • Cooking spray

Instructions

  1. Preheat your air fryer to 375°F (190°C). Peel the onions and trim the tops. Cut each onion into quarters, leaving the root intact.
  2. In a bowl, combine the flour, paprika, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper. In another bowl, whisk together the egg and milk.
  3. Coat each onion in the flour mixture, then the egg mixture, and return to the flour mixture for a second coating.
  4. Place the coated onions in the air fryer basket, spray lightly with cooking spray, and cook for 10-12 minutes until crispy and golden.

Notes

Serve with your favorite dipping sauce. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 2 days.
