Ingredients
Scale
- 6 Mini bagels, sliced in half
- 1/2 cup Pizza sauce or marinara
- 6–8 Slices of Mozzarella cheese (thick-cut works best)
- 1 can Pitted black olives
- 1 teaspoon Dried oregano (optional)
- Fresh basil for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a large baking sheet with parchment paper to prevent sticking. Place the mini bagel halves on the tray with the cut side facing up. While the oven warms, use a small ghost-shaped cookie cutter to stamp out shapes from your mozzarella slices. If you do not have a cutter, simply use a paring knife to free-hand wavy, ghost-like shapes from the cheese. Slice your black olives into tiny rounds or small bits to act as the eyes and mouths for your ghosts.
- Spread about one tablespoon of pizza sauce evenly over each bagel half, making sure to cover the surface right to the edges. Sprinkle a pinch of dried oregano over the sauce if you want extra herb flavor. Carefully place one cheese ghost in the center of each sauced bagel. Slide the baking sheet into the oven and bake for 8 to 10 minutes. Watch them closely; you want the cheese to just melt and look slightly glossy without losing the ghost shape or turning brown.
- Remove the bagels from the oven and let them sit for one minute so the cheese sets slightly. Use a pair of tweezers or a small toothpick to place two olive rounds onto each ghost to create eyes. You can also add a third olive piece for a “screaming” mouth. Transfer the Ghost Pizza Bagels to a serving platter, garnish with fresh basil leaves if desired, and serve them warm while the cheese is perfectly gooey.
