Description
A rich, smooth caramel sauce made with just three ingredients and infused with the flavor of olive oil, perfect for drizzling over desserts or using as a dip.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 6 tablespoons olive oil
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- Pinch of salt (optional)
Instructions
- Add the sugar to a medium saucepan over medium heat, stirring constantly until it melts and turns a golden amber color, about 5-7 minutes.
- Remove the pan from heat and carefully add the olive oil and salt, stirring until combined.
- Gradually whisk in the heavy cream until smooth, cooking over low heat for a minute or two if a thicker sauce is desired.
- Allow the sauce to cool before serving; store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to two weeks.
Notes
Use high-quality olive oil for the best flavor. Watch the sugar closely to prevent burning.
