Ingredients

  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 can (14.5 ounces) crushed tomatoes
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • 12 ounces penne pasta
  • 1/4 cup fresh basil, chopped
  • 1/2 cup Parmesan cheese, grated

Instructions

  1. Heat a large pan over medium heat and brown the ground beef, breaking it apart with a spoon.
  2. Add chopped onions and minced garlic; sauté until onions are translucent, about 3-4 minutes.
  3. Stir in crushed tomatoes, heavy cream, oregano, and red pepper flakes; let simmer for 10 minutes.
  4. Cook the penne pasta according to package instructions; drain and toss with the creamy meat sauce. Stir in fresh basil and top with Parmesan cheese before serving.

Notes

For a lighter version, substitute heavy cream with half-and-half or a plant-based alternative. You can also add vegetables like spinach or bell peppers for added nutrition.
