Ingredients
Scale
- 4 large Granny Smith apples (or any firm, tart variety)
- 1/2 cup high-quality caramel sauce
- 1/4 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1/4 cup white chocolate chips (optional)
- 1/3 cup chopped roasted peanuts or pecans
- 2 tablespoons mini marshmallows
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice (mixed with 1 cup water)
- A pinch of sea salt
Instructions
- Start by washing and drying your apples thoroughly. Core the apples and slice them into uniform wedges, about 1/4-inch thick. To prevent the apples from turning brown, soak the slices in a bowl of cold water mixed with a tablespoon of lemon juice for about 2 minutes. Pat the slices completely dry with a paper towel before proceeding; the caramel will not stick to wet apples.
- If your caramel sauce is cold, place it in a microwave-safe bowl and heat it for 15-20 seconds until it reaches a pourable consistency. In a separate small bowl, melt the semi-sweet chocolate chips in the microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring in between until smooth. If the chocolate is too thick, add a teaspoon of coconut oil to thin it out. Repeat this process for the white chocolate chips if you are using them.
- Arrange half of the apple slices in a single layer on a large platter or individual plates. Drizzle half of the warm caramel and melted chocolate over the apples. Sprinkle half of the nuts and marshmallows on top. Add the remaining apple slices as a second layer and repeat the drizzling and sprinkling process. Finish with a light dusting of sea salt to balance the sweetness. Serve immediately while the sauces are warm and the apples are crisp.
- Cook Time: 20 minutes
