- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 ½ cups granulated sugar
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 4 large eggs
- 1 cup milk
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- Sprinkles (for mixing in and topping)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
- Cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition, and stir in the vanilla extract.
- Whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt in another bowl.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, alternating with the milk, until just combined.
- Fold in the sprinkles unless saving some for topping.
- Divide the batter evenly between the prepared cake pans and bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
- Allow to cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then turn out to cool completely before frosting.
Notes
Make sure to use softened butter for easier mixing. Experiment with different types of sprinkles for a fun twist.
