Ingredients
Scale
- 1 box (11 oz) Vanilla Wafers
- 6–7 large ripe bananas, sliced
- 2 cups cold whole milk
- 1 package (5 oz) instant vanilla pudding mix
- 1 can (14 oz) sweetened condensed milk
- 1 container (12 oz) whipped topping, thawed (or 3 cups homemade whipped cream)
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the cold milk and the instant vanilla pudding mix for about two minutes until it starts to thicken. Once the pudding is set, fold in the sweetened condensed milk and vanilla extract until the mixture is completely smooth and combined.
- Gently fold in half of the whipped topping into the pudding mixture. Use a spatula to combine them slowly so you do not lose the airiness of the cream. This step creates a light, mousse-like texture that makes the trifle feel gourmet.
- Grab a large glass trifle bowl. Start by placing a single layer of vanilla wafers at the bottom. You can stand some wafers upright against the glass sides for a decorative look. Follow the wafers with a layer of sliced bananas, then spread a generous portion of the pudding mixture over the top.
- Repeat the layers—wafers, bananas, and pudding—until you reach the top of the bowl or run out of ingredients. End with a final layer of the remaining whipped topping. For a finished look, crush a few extra vanilla wafers and sprinkle them over the top.
- Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or preferably overnight. This chilling time allows the wafers to soften into a cake-like consistency and lets the flavors meld beautifully.
- Cook Time: 25 minutes
