Apple Cinnamon Overnight Oats

Apple Cinnamon Overnight Oats

  • Total Time: 8 hours 10 minutes
  • Diet: Vegetarian, Vegan Option

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1/2 cup old-fashioned rolled oats
  • 1/2 cup milk of choice (dairy, almond, oat, or soy)
  • 1/4 cup plain Greek yogurt (or dairy-free alternative)
  • 1/2 medium apple, finely diced or grated
  • 1 teaspoon maple syrup or honey
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon chia seeds
  • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt
  • Optional toppings: chopped walnuts, pecans, or extra apple slices

Instructions

  1. Step 1: Combine the Dry and Liquid Ingredients In a mason jar or a small resealable container, add the rolled oats, chia seeds, ground cinnamon, and a pinch of salt. Stir these dry ingredients together to ensure the cinnamon is evenly distributed. Pour in your chosen milk, Greek yogurt, maple syrup, and vanilla extract. Stir the mixture vigorously until all the ingredients are well combined and no dry clumps of oats remain.
  2. Step 2: Fold in the Fresh Apples Prepare your apple by dicing it into small, bite-sized pieces or grating it for a softer texture. Gently fold the apple pieces into the oat mixture. Ensure the apples are submerged or well-coated to prevent them from browning too much. If you prefer a bit of crunch, save a few pieces of apple to add as a topping just before serving.
  3. Step 3: Refrigerate and Set Seal the jar or container with a tight-fitting lid. Place it in the refrigerator for at least 6 hours, though overnight is ideal for the best texture. During this time, the oats and chia seeds will soak up the liquid and expand. In the morning, give the oats a quick stir. If the mixture is too thick, splash in a little extra milk. Add your favorite toppings and enjoy chilled.
