Apple Cider Cinnamon Roll Twists Breakfast

Apple Cider Cinnamon Roll Twists Breakfast

  • Total Time: 35 minutes
  • Diet: Vegetarian

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 tube (8 oz) refrigerated crescent roll dough or seamless dough sheet
  • 1/2 cup apple cider (high quality, unfiltered preferred)
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup light brown sugar, packed
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1–2 tablespoons milk or heavy cream
  • A pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. Step 1: Reduce the Apple Cider: Pour the apple cider into a small saucepan over medium-high heat. Bring it to a boil and let it simmer until it reduces to about 2 tablespoons. This concentrates the flavor so it doesn’t make the dough soggy. Set it aside to cool slightly.
  2. Step 2: Prepare the Cinnamon Filling: In a small bowl, mix the softened butter, brown sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg until it forms a smooth paste. Stir in half of your reduced apple cider (reserve the other half for the glaze). This creates a potent, flavorful spread that anchors the twists.
  3. Step 3: Roll and Fill the Dough: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Unroll the dough onto a clean surface. If using crescent rolls, pinch the seams together to form one large rectangle. Spread the cinnamon apple mixture evenly over the entire surface of the dough.
  4. Step 4: Fold and Cut: Fold the dough in half lengthwise so the filling is sandwiched inside. Use a pizza cutter or a sharp knife to cut the dough into 8 long strips. Each strip should be about 1 inch wide.
  5. Step 5: Twist and Bake: Take each strip and twist it several times in opposite directions, like a piece of rope. Place the twists onto the prepared baking sheet, pressing the ends down slightly. Bake for 12 to 15 minutes, or until the twists are golden brown and the sugar is bubbling.
  6. Step 6: Glaze and Serve: While the twists bake, whisk together the powdered sugar, the remaining apple cider reduction, a pinch of salt, and enough milk to reach a drizzling consistency. Once the twists come out of the oven, let them cool for 5 minutes, then drizzle the glaze generously over the top.
