Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb Brussels sprouts, trimmed and halved
- 2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
- 2 tablespoons pure maple syrup
- 1/2 teaspoon sea salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
- Optional: 1/4 cup chopped pecans or dried cranberries for garnish
Instructions
- Start by washing your Brussels sprouts thoroughly under cold water. Pat them completely dry with a kitchen towel; moisture is the enemy of crispiness. Trim off the tough woody ends and slice each sprout in half vertically. In a large mixing bowl, toss the halved sprouts with olive oil, one tablespoon of the maple syrup, salt, pepper, and garlic powder. Ensure every piece is evenly coated with the oil and seasoning.
- Preheat your air fryer to 375°F (190°C) for about 3 minutes. Place the seasoned Brussels sprouts into the air fryer basket in a single layer. If you have a smaller air fryer, work in batches to avoid overcrowding. Cook for 12 to 15 minutes. Every 5 minutes, remove the basket and give it a vigorous shake to ensure the sprouts brown evenly on all sides. They are done when the outer leaves are dark brown and crispy.
- Transfer the hot Brussels sprouts to a serving bowl immediately. Drizzle the remaining tablespoon of maple syrup over the top while they are still steaming to create a glossy, sweet glaze. If you are feeling extra festive, toss in the chopped pecans or dried cranberries. Serve warm as the perfect autumnal side dish.
