Air Fryer Halloween Spider Web Quesadilla

Air Fryer Halloween Spider Web Quesadilla

  • Total Time: 16 minutes
  • Diet: Gluten-Free (option)

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 Medium flour tortillas (taco size)
  • 1 cup Shredded Mexican blend cheese or sharp cheddar
  • 1/4 cup Cooked shredded chicken or black beans (optional filling)
  • 1/2 teaspoon Taco seasoning
  • 1/4 cup Sour cream (placed in a piping bag or plastic baggie)
  • 4 Black olives (to create the spiders)
  • Non-stick cooking spray or olive oil mister

Instructions

  1. Step 1: Assemble the Quesadillas: Place two tortillas on a clean work surface. Evenly distribute the shredded cheese across the surface of each tortilla, leaving a small half-inch border around the edges to prevent the cheese from oozing out into your air fryer. If you are using chicken or black beans, sprinkle them over the cheese along with a dash of taco seasoning. Place the remaining two tortillas on top to create a sandwich.
  2. Step 2: Air Fry Until Golden: Lightly spray the air fryer basket with non-stick cooking spray. Carefully place the quesadillas into the basket (you may need to work in batches depending on the size of your air fryer). Lightly spray the tops of the tortillas with oil. Place a small metal rack or a couple of toothpicks through the tortillas to prevent the top layer from blowing off during the cooking process. Air fry at 370°F (185°C) for 5 to 6 minutes, flipping halfway through, until the cheese is melted and the tortillas are golden brown and crisp.
  3. Step 3: Create the Spider Web Design: Remove the hot quesadillas from the air fryer and let them sit for one minute. Snip a tiny corner off your baggie filled with sour cream. Start by piping a small circle in the center of the quesadilla, then draw 3 or 4 larger concentric circles around it. Use a toothpick or the tip of a knife to drag lines from the center circle outward to the edge of the tortilla. This “pulling” motion creates the classic web effect.
  4. Step 4: Craft the Olive Spiders: Slice two black olives in half lengthwise to create the spiders’ bodies. Place one half in the center of the web. Slice the remaining olive halves into thin strips to serve as the legs. Arrange four legs on each side of the olive body. Serve immediately while the cheese is warm and gooey!
