Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb fresh okra pods
- 1.5 tablespoons olive oil or avocado oil
- 1 tablespoon Cajun seasoning (store-bought or homemade)
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/4 teaspoon sea salt (adjust based on your spice blend)
- Lemon wedges for serving
Instructions
- Wash the okra pods thoroughly under cold running water. Pat them completely dry with a clean kitchen towel or paper towels; moisture is the enemy of crispiness. Trim the stem ends off each pod, but keep the rest of the pod whole to maintain structural integrity. Place the dried okra in a large mixing bowl.
- Drizzle the olive oil over the okra pods. Toss them well with your hands or a spatula to ensure every pod has a light coating of oil. Sprinkle the Cajun seasoning, garlic powder, and salt over the okra. Toss again until the spices are evenly distributed and sticking to the pods.
- Preheat your air fryer to 400°F (200°C). Place the seasoned okra in the air fryer basket in a single layer. Do not overcrowd the basket, as air needs to circulate around each pod. Cook for 12 to 15 minutes. Shake the basket halfway through the cooking time to ensure even browning and crisping.
- Once the okra pods are dark green with charred, crispy edges, remove them from the air fryer. Transfer them to a serving plate immediately while they are at their peak crunch. Serve with fresh lemon wedges on the side for a bright, acidic finish that cuts through the spice.
