Air Fryer Cream Cheese Jalapeno Poppers

Air Fryer Cream Cheese Jalapeno Poppers

  • Total Time: 25 minutes
  • Diet: Low-Carb, Keto-Friendly

Ingredients

Scale
  • 12 large jalapeno peppers, halved lengthwise and seeded
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened to room temperature
  • 1 cup sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/4 cup panko breadcrumbs (optional, for crunch)
  • 2 tablespoons fresh chives, finely chopped
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • Cooking spray

Instructions

  1. Start by washing the jalapenos and patting them dry. Slice each pepper in half lengthwise. Use a small spoon or a paring knife to carefully remove the seeds and the white membranes (the ribs). Removing these parts will significantly reduce the heat level. If you prefer a very spicy popper, leave a few seeds behind. Pro tip: Wear kitchen gloves during this step to avoid skin irritation from the pepper oils.
  2. In a medium mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, shredded cheddar cheese, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, and chopped chives. Use a spatula or hand mixer to blend everything until the mixture is smooth and the spices are evenly distributed. Season with a pinch of salt and pepper according to your preference.
  3. Using a small spoon or a butter knife, fill each jalapeno half with the cream cheese mixture. Spread the filling evenly so it is flush with the edges of the pepper. If you are using panko breadcrumbs, press the cheese-side of the stuffed pepper into a small bowl of crumbs to create a light coating on top.
  4. Preheat your air fryer to 375°F (190°C). Lightly spray the air fryer basket with cooking spray. Place the stuffed jalapenos in the basket in a single layer, ensuring they are not touching to allow for proper airflow. Cook for 8 to 10 minutes, or until the peppers are tender and the cheese topping is bubbly and golden brown. Work in batches if necessary.
  5. Carefully remove the poppers from the air fryer using tongs. Let them rest for 2 to 3 minutes before serving; the filling will be very hot! Arrange them on a serving platter and garnish with extra chives or a drizzle of hot honey if desired. Serve warm.
