Description

Delightful homemade Pop-Tarts filled with luscious wildberry jam and topped with a light glaze.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup cold, cubed butter
  • 1/4 cup cold water
  • wildberry jam
  • 1 beaten egg for egg wash
  • powdered sugar for glazing
  • a splash of milk for glazing

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Combine flour, sugar, and salt in a mixing bowl.
  3. Cut in the butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Add cold water gradually, stirring until a soft dough forms.
  5. Roll out the dough on a floured surface to about 1/8-inch thickness.
  6. Cut the dough into rectangles, about 3 x 4 inches.
  7. Place a spoonful of wildberry jam on half of the rectangles.
  8. Moisten the edges with water and place the remaining rectangles on top.
  9. Seal the edges with a fork.
  10. Brush the tops with the beaten egg.
  11. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.
  12. Cool the Pop-Tarts, then mix powdered sugar with milk and drizzle over them.

Notes

Ensure butter is very cold for a flaky crust. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days or freeze for longer storage.
