A delightful plant-based alternative to fried chicken that is crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, perfect for any occasion.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 cup plant-based milk
- 1 cup breadcrumbs
- 2 teaspoons garlic powder
- 2 teaspoons paprika
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
- 1 block of firm tofu (or seitan)
- Oil for frying
Instructions
- Press and drain the tofu to remove excess moisture, then cut it into pieces shaped like chicken.
- In a bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, garlic powder, paprika, salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper.
- In another bowl, pour the plant-based milk, dip each tofu piece first into the flour mixture, then into the milk, and finally into the breadcrumbs.
- Heat oil in a frying pan over medium heat. Fry the tofu pieces for about 4-5 minutes on each side until golden brown and crispy.
- Drain the fried tofu on paper towels and serve hot with your favorite dipping sauce.
Notes
For extra crunch, you can double dip the tofu in the milk and breadcrumbs. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
