Description

A delightful twist on the classic French dessert, these cookies combine rich buttery flavors with sweet caramel hints and a perfectly caramelized sugar topping.


Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup chopped or crushed caramel candies
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar for topping

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until fluffy.
  3. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  4. Combine the flour, baking soda, and salt in a separate bowl. Gradually mix into the creamed mixture until well combined.
  5. Fold in the chopped caramel candies until evenly distributed. Drop tablespoons of dough onto the baking sheet, spacing them 2 inches apart.
  6. Bake for 10-12 minutes until the edges are golden.
  7. Sprinkle granulated sugar on top of each cookie immediately after removing from the oven.
  8. Use a kitchen torch to caramelize the sugar topping until golden.
  9. Cool slightly before serving to allow the sugar to harden.

Notes

Make sure butter is softened, not melted, for the best texture. Cookies can also be frozen for longer storage.
