A comforting classic apple pie with a flaky crust and sweet, spiced apple filling, perfect for any occasion.
Ingredients

- 2 1/2 pounds of apples (Granny Smith or a mix of sweet and tart)
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 1 package of pie crusts (or homemade pie crust)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C). Peel, core, and slice the apples into thin pieces.
- In a large bowl, combine the sliced apples, sugar, flour, lemon juice, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt. Toss until apples are coated.
- Roll out one pie crust into a pie pan and pour the apple mixture into it. Dot the filling with butter.
- Roll out the second crust, place it over the filling, seal the edges, and cut slits in the top. Bake at 425°F for 15 minutes, then reduce to 350°F and bake for an additional 35-45 minutes. Let cool before serving.
Notes
Serve warm with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream. Store leftovers at room temperature for up to 2 days or refrigerate for 5 days.
