Description

A comforting classic apple pie with a flaky crust and sweet, spiced apple filling, perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 1/2 pounds of apples (Granny Smith or a mix of sweet and tart)
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1 package of pie crusts (or homemade pie crust)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C). Peel, core, and slice the apples into thin pieces.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the sliced apples, sugar, flour, lemon juice, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt. Toss until apples are coated.
  3. Roll out one pie crust into a pie pan and pour the apple mixture into it. Dot the filling with butter.
  4. Roll out the second crust, place it over the filling, seal the edges, and cut slits in the top. Bake at 425°F for 15 minutes, then reduce to 350°F and bake for an additional 35-45 minutes. Let cool before serving.

Notes

Serve warm with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream. Store leftovers at room temperature for up to 2 days or refrigerate for 5 days.
