Description

Soft and chewy sugar cookie bars with a hint of vanilla, perfect for any occasion.


Ingredients

  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar

  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon almond extract (optional)
  • Frosting and sprinkles for topping (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a 9×13 inch baking pan with parchment paper.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In a separate large bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Beat in the egg, vanilla extract, and almond extract (if using).
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing until well combined.
  6. Spread the batter evenly into the prepared baking pan.
  7. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the edges are golden and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  8. Allow the bars to cool completely, then frost and sprinkle with colorful toppings, if desired.
