Description

A delightfully bold appetizer with a crispy exterior and cheesy, savory filling that packs a punch of flavor in every bite.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar or jalapeño jack)
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped onions
  • 2 cloves minced garlic
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper
  • Oil for frying
  • 1/2 cup hot sauce
  • 1/4 cup chopped cilantro (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Combine the ground beef, shredded cheese, breadcrumbs, onions, garlic, cumin, chili powder, salt, and pepper in a large bowl until well mixed.
  2. Shape the mixture into small balls, about 1 inch in diameter.
  3. Heat oil in a deep pan over medium heat and test it by adding a small piece of batter; it should sizzle.
  4. Fry the balls in batches for about 5-7 minutes or until golden brown and crispy.
  5. Remove the balls from the oil and drain on paper towels.
  6. Toss the balls in hot sauce and garnish with cilantro before serving.

Notes

These can be served hot with additional hot sauce or ranch dressing for dipping. Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
