Description

Classic snickerdoodle cookies with a soft, chewy texture and a delightful cinnamon-sugar coating.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup butter, softened
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons cream of tartar
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 3 tablespoons sugar (for coating)
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Cream together the softened butter and 1 1/2 cups sugar until smooth and fluffy.
  3. Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
  4. Gradually mix in the flour, cream of tartar, baking soda, and salt to form a thick dough.
  5. Mix together the 3 tablespoons of sugar and ground cinnamon in a small bowl.
  6. Roll the dough into balls (about 1 inch in diameter) and then coat each ball in the cinnamon-sugar mixture.
  7. Place the coated dough balls on ungreased baking sheets, leaving space between each cookie.
  8. Bake for 8 to 10 minutes until lightly golden and set around the edges.
  9. Cool on wire racks before enjoying.

Notes

For best results, ensure butter is at room temperature and measure flour accurately.
