- 2 teaspoons active dry yeast
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 teaspoons salt
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 cup crushed tomatoes
- 8 ounces fresh mozzarella cheese, sliced
- Fresh basil leaves
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- In a bowl, combine warm water and yeast. Let sit for 5-10 minutes until frothy.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine flour and salt. Add the yeast mixture and olive oil, mixing until a dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for 5-7 minutes. Let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour, covered.
- Heat a skillet over medium heat. Roll out the dough and place in the pan. Spread crushed tomatoes over the dough, leaving space for crust. Top with mozzarella, basil, salt, and pepper. Cover and cook for 10-15 minutes.
- Serve hot, garnished with fresh basil if desired.
Notes
For a crispier crust, preheat the skillet before adding the dough. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
