Description
Tender beef strips and crisp onions enveloped in a savory sauce, perfect for a quick weeknight dinner.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb beef sirloin, cut into strips
- 1 medium onion, sliced
- 3 tablespoons soy sauce, divided
- 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
- 1 tablespoon ginger, minced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil
- 3 tablespoons vegetable oil, divided
- 2 tablespoons hoisin sauce
- 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- In a medium bowl, whisk together soy sauce, oyster sauce, ginger, garlic, and sesame oil. Toss the beef strips in the marinade and let marinate for 10-15 minutes.
- Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add sliced onions and sauté until soft and slightly caramelized, about 5-7 minutes. Season with salt and pepper, then remove from the pan.
- In the same skillet, increase heat to high and add remaining 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil. Once hot, add marinated beef strips and stir-fry for 2-3 minutes until browned and cooked through.
- In a small bowl, mix together 2 tablespoons soy sauce, hoisin sauce, rice vinegar, and cornstarch. Pour this mixture over the beef and let simmer for a couple of minutes until the sauce thickens.
- Add the sautéed onions back into the skillet, stirring gently to combine with the beef and sauce. Serve hot over steamed rice or noodles.
