Ingredients

  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 cup boiling water

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans to prevent sticking.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the flour, cocoa powder, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Mix well.
  3. Add in the eggs, milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract. Beat on medium speed for about 2 minutes until smooth. Carefully stir in the boiling water.
  4. Pour the batter into prepared pans and bake for 30-35 minutes. Check for doneness with a toothpick.
  5. Allow the cakes to cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then remove from pans and let cool completely on wire racks.
