Description

Deliciously buttery and melt-in-your-mouth shortbread cookies that are easy to make and perfect for any occasion.


Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 325°F (163°C).
  2. Cream the softened butter and powdered sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add in the vanilla extract and mix well.
  4. Gradually add the flour and salt, mixing until a dough forms.
  5. Roll out the dough on a floured surface to about 1/4 inch thick.
  6. Cut the dough into shapes using cookie cutters and place on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  7. Bake for 15-20 minutes or until the edges are lightly golden.
  8. Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack.

Notes

For added flavor, consider adding citrus zest or nutmeg. Store cookies in an airtight container for up to a week, or freeze for up to three months.
