- 1 lb ground beef or lamb
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 carrots, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 cup peas
- 2 tablespoons tomato paste
- 1 cup beef broth
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 4 cups mashed potatoes
- 1 cup shredded cheese (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
- In a large skillet, cook the ground beef or lamb over medium heat until browned. Drain excess fat.
- Add the chopped onion, diced carrots, and minced garlic to the skillet; cook until the vegetables are tender.
- Stir in peas, tomato paste, beef broth, and Worcestershire sauce. Season with salt and pepper. Simmer for about 5 minutes.
- Transfer the meat mixture to a baking dish. Spread the mashed potatoes on top of the meat mixture, smoothing it out evenly.
- Sprinkle cheese on top if desired, then bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes until the top is golden and bubbly.
- Let it cool for a few minutes before serving.
