- 10 oz kataifi pastry
- 2 cups milk
- 1/2 cup sugar, plus additional for syrup
- 2 tbsp cornstarch
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup water
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1/2 cup chopped pistachios
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Shred the kataifi pastry and spread evenly on a baking sheet. Bake for 15-20 minutes until golden brown.
- In a saucepan, combine milk, sugar, and cornstarch over medium heat, stirring until thickened. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla.
- In another saucepan, create a syrup by combining water and sugar until dissolved, then cool.
- Layer the baked kataifi in a trifle dish, drizzling syrup over each layer, followed by the milk mixture until all are used.
- Whip the heavy cream until stiff peaks form and spread over the top layer.
- Garnish with chopped pistachios and additional nuts.
- Refrigerate for a few hours before serving.
Notes
For added flavor, consider incorporating rose water or orange blossom water. Store leftover trifle in an airtight container, best consumed within 2-3 days.
