Description

A delightful dessert featuring layers of crunchy kataifi pastry, creamy milk filling, and whipped cream, perfect for gatherings or family treats.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 10 oz kataifi pastry
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1/2 cup sugar, plus additional for syrup
  • 2 tbsp cornstarch
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup chopped pistachios

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Shred the kataifi pastry and spread evenly on a baking sheet. Bake for 15-20 minutes until golden brown.
  3. In a saucepan, combine milk, sugar, and cornstarch over medium heat, stirring until thickened. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla.
  4. In another saucepan, create a syrup by combining water and sugar until dissolved, then cool.
  5. Layer the baked kataifi in a trifle dish, drizzling syrup over each layer, followed by the milk mixture until all are used.
  6. Whip the heavy cream until stiff peaks form and spread over the top layer.
  7. Garnish with chopped pistachios and additional nuts.
  8. Refrigerate for a few hours before serving.

Notes

For added flavor, consider incorporating rose water or orange blossom water. Store leftover trifle in an airtight container, best consumed within 2-3 days.
