- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1 (20 oz) can pineapple slices
- Maraschino cherries (optional)
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil

- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare your round cake pan by melting 1/4 cup of butter within it.
- Sprinkle 1 cup of brown sugar evenly over the melted butter and arrange the pineapple slices on top. Optionally, add Maraschino cherries in the centers.
- In a large bowl, mix together the flour, granulated sugar, milk, vegetable oil, eggs, baking powder, vanilla extract, and salt until smooth.
- Pour the cake batter over the pineapple and sugar layer, bake for 40-45 minutes until golden brown, and invert onto a serving plate.
Notes
For added flavor, consider using fresh pineapple instead of canned. Allow the cake to cool slightly before inverting to maintain shape.
