Description

Delightful cherry bars with a soft, buttery base, perfect for gatherings or a simple treat at home.


Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup cherry pie filling
  • Powdered sugar for dusting (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease an 8×8-inch baking pan.
  2. In a bowl, mix together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  3. Add the softened butter, egg, and vanilla extract, and mix until well combined.
  4. Spread half of the batter into the prepared pan.
  5. Pour the cherry pie filling evenly over the batter.
  6. Drop spoonfuls of the remaining batter over the cherry filling.
  7. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown.
  8. Allow to cool, then dust with powdered sugar before serving.
