Ingredients

- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup cherry pie filling
- Powdered sugar for dusting (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease an 8×8-inch baking pan.
- In a bowl, mix together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
- Add the softened butter, egg, and vanilla extract, and mix until well combined.
- Spread half of the batter into the prepared pan.
- Pour the cherry pie filling evenly over the batter.
- Drop spoonfuls of the remaining batter over the cherry filling.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown.
- Allow to cool, then dust with powdered sugar before serving.
