Ingredients

- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/4 cup plain yogurt
- 1/2 cup warm water
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil or melted butter
- Garlic (optional, for flavor)
- Fresh cilantro (optional, for garnish)
Instructions
- In a large bowl, mix the flour, sugar, salt, baking powder, and baking soda.
- Add the yogurt and warm water to the dry ingredients and gently stir until combined.
- Knead the mixture into a soft dough, adding oil if the dough sticks.
- Cover the dough and let it rest for 1-2 hours in a warm place.
- Divide the dough into small balls and roll them out into thin circles.
- Heat a skillet over medium-high heat and cook each naan for 1-2 minutes on each side until puffy.
- Optionally, brush with melted butter and sprinkle with garlic and cilantro before serving.
Notes
Store leftover naan in an airtight container for up to 2 days, or freeze for up to 3 months.
