Description

A delightful, hearty bread that combines the rich flavor of molasses with wholesome whole wheat and all-purpose flours, perfect for meals or as a snack.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups whole wheat flour
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons molasses
  • 2 cups buttermilk

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease your loaf pan.
  2. Combine the whole wheat flour, all-purpose flour, baking soda, and salt in a large bowl.
  3. Mix the molasses with the buttermilk in a separate bowl.
  4. Add the wet mixture to the dry ingredients and stir gently until just combined.
  5. Pour the batter into your greased loaf pan and spread it evenly.
  6. Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  7. Cool the bread in the pan for a few minutes before transferring it to a wire rack.

Notes

For easier slicing, allow the bread to cool completely before cutting. You can increase molasses to 3 tablespoons for a sweeter flavor.
