Indulge in layers of buttery shortbread, rich caramel, and smooth chocolate with this easy-to-make Millionaire’s Shortbread.


Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup cocoa powder
  • 1 can (14 oz) sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 cup caramel candies
  • 1 cup chocolate chips
  • 1/4 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Sea salt (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×9 inch baking dish thoroughly.
  2. Cream together the unsalted butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy. Gradually mix in the all-purpose flour and cocoa powder.
  3. Press the dough into the prepared baking dish and bake for about 20 minutes until lightly golden.
  4. Melt the caramel candies and sweetened condensed milk in a saucepan over medium heat, stirring until smooth. Pour over the baked crust.
  5. Melt the chocolate chips and heavy cream over low heat, stirring in the vanilla extract. Pour over the caramel layer and sprinkle with sea salt.
  6. Allow to cool completely before cutting into squares.

Notes

Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days or in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks. Can be frozen for up to 3 months.
