Description
A delightful Hawaiian dish featuring grilled chicken marinated in a sweet and savory blend, perfect for a backyard barbecue.
Ingredients
Scale
- 4 chicken thighs
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 cup ketchup
- 1/4 cup pineapple juice
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon fresh ginger, grated
- 1 teaspoon sesame oil
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- Green onions for garnish
Instructions
- In a bowl, whisk together soy sauce, brown sugar, ketchup, pineapple juice, garlic, ginger, sesame oil, and black pepper to create the marinade.
- Place the chicken thighs in a resealable bag and pour the marinade over them. Seal the bag tightly, ensuring that the chicken is well-coated. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours, but for best flavor, let it sit overnight.
- Preheat your grill to medium heat. Remove the chicken from the marinade, making sure to reserve the marinade for basting. Grill the chicken for about 5-7 minutes on each side, basting with the reserved marinade occasionally until the chicken is cooked through and reaches an internal temperature of 165°F, with beautiful grill marks.
- Once grilled, remove the chicken from the grill and let it rest for a few minutes. Garnish with chopped green onions before serving.
Notes
Marinate for up to 24 hours for even better flavor. Use bone-in chicken thighs for juicier meat.
