Description
A quick and easy recipe for homemade popcorn that you can customize to your taste.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1/2 cup popcorn kernels
- 3 tablespoons vegetable oil or coconut oil
- Salt to taste
- Butter (optional)
Instructions
- In a large pot, heat the oil over medium-high heat until it shimmers, about 2-3 minutes.
- Add a few popcorn kernels to the pot and cover it. Wait until the kernels pop to test if the oil is hot enough.
- Once the test kernels have popped, add the remaining popcorn kernels to the pot. Cover with a lid but leave it slightly ajar to allow steam to escape.
- Shake the pot occasionally to ensure even cooking.
- When the popping slows down to about 2-3 seconds between pops, remove the pot from the heat.
- Pour the popcorn into a bowl and season with salt and melted butter if desired. Enjoy!
Notes
Experiment with different toppings like cheese powder, caramel, or spices for a personalized twist.
