Ingredients

- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder (optional)
- 1 cup shredded cheese (such as cheddar or Swiss)
- 1 cup diced ham
- ¼ cup unsalted butter (melted)
- 1 cup milk
- ¼ cup unsalted butter (for pouring into baking dish)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 450°F (232°C).
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, salt, and garlic powder if using. Stir in shredded cheese and diced ham.
- In a separate bowl, combine melted butter and milk. Pour into dry ingredients and stir until just combined.
- Pour ¼ cup melted butter into a 9×13-inch baking dish. Spoon biscuit batter over the butter.
- Bake for 25 minutes until golden brown.
- Cool for a few minutes, cut into squares and serve warm.
Notes
For best results, serve immediately after baking. Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to two days or freeze for up to 3 months.
