Description

A flavorful dish of grilled chicken marinated in yogurt and spices, offering a taste of Persian cuisine.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 chicken thighs or breasts
  • 1 cup plain yogurt
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon ground coriander
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh herbs for garnish (such as parsley or cilantro)

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, mix together yogurt, olive oil, lemon juice, garlic, cumin, coriander, turmeric, salt, and pepper to create a marinade.
  2. Add the chicken to the marinade, ensuring it’s well coated. Cover and marinate in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours, preferably overnight.
  3. Preheat the grill to medium-high heat.
  4. Remove the chicken from the marinade and discard the excess.
  5. Grill the chicken for about 6-7 minutes on each side, or until fully cooked and the internal temperature reaches 165°F (75°C).
  6. Let the chicken rest for a few minutes before slicing.
  7. Garnish with fresh herbs and serve with rice or warm bread.

Notes

For an even more authentic flavor, consider adding saffron to your marinade. Marinating overnight will enhance the flavor.
