These Ghost Meringue Cookies bring a delightful twist to your Halloween festivities with their crisp texture and sweet, airy flavor.

			- 4 large egg whites
 - 1 cup granulated sugar
 - 1/4 teaspoon cream of tartar
 - 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
 - Black food coloring (optional)
 - Chocolate chips (for eyes)
 
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 200°F (93°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
 - In a mixing bowl, whip the egg whites and cream of tartar together until soft peaks form.
 - Gradually add the sugar while continuing to beat until stiff peaks form and the mixture is glossy. Stir in vanilla extract and black food coloring if desired.
 - Use a piping bag to pipe ghost shapes onto the prepared baking sheet.
 - Bake for about 1.5 hours or until dry, then cool completely on a wire rack. Press chocolate chips into the meringues as eyes.
 
Notes
Store cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 weeks. To maintain crispness, keep away from humidity.
