Ingredients
Scale
- 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast
- 1/4 cup warm milk
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 3 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- Oil for frying
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 8 ounces semi-sweet chocolate, chopped
- 1/4 cup powdered sugar
Instructions
- In a small bowl, dissolve the yeast in warm milk with a teaspoon of sugar. Let it sit until frothy, about 5-10 minutes.
- Cream together the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.
- Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition, then stir in the vanilla extract.
- Add the yeast mixture to the butter mixture, stirring until fully integrated. Gradually fold in the flour and salt until smooth.
- Cover the bowl and let it rise in a warm place until doubled in size, about 1 hour.
- Roll out the dough to about 1/2-inch thick and cut out donuts.
- Heat oil to 375°F (190°C) and fry the donuts until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes per side.
- For the filling, heat the heavy cream in a saucepan until simmering, then pour it over the chopped chocolate and stir until smooth.
- Once cooled, fill the donuts with the chocolate mixture using a piping bag.
- Dust with powdered sugar before serving.
