Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Pastel-colored frosting
  • Sprinkles or edible decorations

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a bowl, mix the all-purpose flour, baking powder, and salt.
  3. Cream the softened butter and sugar together until light and fluffy.
  4. Beat in the egg and vanilla extract into the butter mixture.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture.
  6. Roll out the dough on a floured surface and cut it into shapes.
  7. Place the cookies on a lined baking sheet.
  8. Bake for 8-10 minutes or until the edges are lightly golden.
  9. Let the cookies cool completely before decorating with frosting and sprinkles.

Notes

For softer cookies, reduce baking time slightly. Adding lemon zest can provide a refreshing twist.
