- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 cup milk
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 3 large eggs
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- Chocolate ganache (for topping)
- Edible gold leaf (for decoration)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
- In a large bowl, combine the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt. Mix well.
- In another bowl, whisk together the milk, vegetable oil, eggs, and vanilla extract until smooth.
- Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix until well combined.
- Divide the batter evenly between the prepared cake pans. Bake for about 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Allow the cakes to cool in the pans for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
- Once cooled, layer the cakes with chocolate ganache between them and cover with more ganache.
- Decorate with edible gold leaf for an elegant finish.
- Slice and serve at room temperature.
Notes
Serve with coffee or vanilla ice cream. Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.
