- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup sourdough starter
- 1/2 cup water
- 1/4 cup cocoa powder
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1/4 cup vegetable oil
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup chocolate chips
- 1/4 cup chocolate syrup
Instructions
- In a large bowl, mix the sourdough starter, water, and sugar until combined.
- Gradually add in the all-purpose flour, salt, cocoa powder, and vegetable oil, mixing until a dough forms.
- Knead the dough for about 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Let the dough rise in a warm place for about 240 minutes or until it has doubled in size.
- Punch down the dough and gently fold in the chocolate chips and chocolate syrup for that delicious swirly effect.
- Shape the dough into a loaf and place it in a greased loaf pan.
- Allow the dough to rise again for about 120 minutes, allowing it to puff up nicely.
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake for 30-35 minutes or until the bread sounds hollow when tapped.
- Let the loaf cool for a few minutes before slicing it to enjoy the lovely aroma and appearance.
