Description

A deliciously indulgent sourdough loaf combining rich cocoa and a delightful swirl of chocolate.


Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup sourdough starter
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/4 cup cocoa powder
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips
  • 1/4 cup chocolate syrup

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, mix the sourdough starter, water, and sugar until combined.
  2. Gradually add in the all-purpose flour, salt, cocoa powder, and vegetable oil, mixing until a dough forms.
  3. Knead the dough for about 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. Let the dough rise in a warm place for about 240 minutes or until it has doubled in size.
  5. Punch down the dough and gently fold in the chocolate chips and chocolate syrup for that delicious swirly effect.
  6. Shape the dough into a loaf and place it in a greased loaf pan.
  7. Allow the dough to rise again for about 120 minutes, allowing it to puff up nicely.
  8. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake for 30-35 minutes or until the bread sounds hollow when tapped.
  9. Let the loaf cool for a few minutes before slicing it to enjoy the lovely aroma and appearance.
