- Butter or oil (for greasing the griddle)
Instructions
- Begin by gathering all your ingredients.
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, cocoa powder, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt until well combined.
- In a separate bowl, mix the milk, egg, melted butter, and vanilla extract. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Fold in the chocolate chips gently.
- Heat a non-stick griddle or skillet over medium heat and grease it lightly. Once hot, pour about 1/4 cup of batter for each pancake onto the griddle. Cook until bubbles form on the surface, about 2 to 3 minutes.
- Flip carefully and cook for an additional 2 to 3 minutes, or until both sides are a deep chocolatey brown and cooked through.
- Remove the pancakes from the griddle and stack them on a plate. Continue cooking the remaining batter, greasing as necessary. Serve warm with toppings.
Notes
For best results, use high-quality cocoa powder and avoid over-mixing the batter.
