Description

A delightful sweet treat that combines the rich flavors of dates and the crunchiness of walnuts, perfect for afternoon tea or dessert.


Ingredients

  • 200g pitted dates, chopped
  • 100g walnuts, chopped
  • 200g all-purpose flour
  • 150g brown sugar
  • 100g unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 200ml milk

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F) and grease a traybake tin.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the chopped dates, walnuts, flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, whisk together the melted butter, brown sugar, eggs, vanilla extract, and milk until smooth.
  4. Gradually add the wet mixture to the dry ingredients and mix until just combined.
  5. Pour the batter into the prepared tin and spread evenly. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  6. Allow to cool before slicing into squares.

Notes

Serve warm or at room temperature, with whipped cream or ice cream. Store in an airtight container for up to 3 days, refrigerate for a week, or freeze for 3 months.
