Description

Delightful scones balancing tart cranberries with sweet maple syrup and vibrant orange zest, perfect for breakfast or an afternoon snack.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup cold butter, cubed
  • 1 cup fresh cranberries
  • 1 tbsp orange zest
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup maple syrup
  • 1 large egg

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, mix the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt until combined. Cut in the cold butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  3. Stir in the cranberries and orange zest. In a separate bowl, whisk together the milk, maple syrup, and egg. Gradually add to the dry mixture, stirring until just combined.
  4. Turn the dough onto a floured surface, knead gently, pat into a circle about 1 inch thick, and cut into wedges. Bake for 15-20 minutes until golden brown. Cool slightly before serving.

Notes

Serve warm drizzled with extra maple syrup or alongside clotted cream. Can be stored in an airtight container at room temperature for 2 days or frozen for up to 2 months.
