- 1 cup crushed Oreo cookies
- 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1 cup whipped cream
- Oreo cookie pieces for garnish
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare two 9-inch round cake pans.
- In a medium bowl, mix flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- In a large bowl, cream together the sugar and butter until light and fluffy, then add eggs one at a time.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients alternating with buttermilk, folding in crushed Oreo cookies last.
- Divide the batter evenly between the prepared pans and smooth the tops.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Cool the cakes in pans for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
- Once cooled, frost and garnish the cake with whipped cream and Oreo pieces.
Notes
Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 5 days. Use a piece of wax paper to prevent frosting from sticking.
