- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup milk
- 2 large eggs
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup chopped nuts (optional)
- 1 tablespoon cinnamon (for topping)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×13 inch baking pan.
- Cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.
- In another bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, baking powder, and salt. Whisk to ensure even distribution.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, alternating with the milk, until fully combined. Pour half of the batter into the prepared pan.
- Optionally, sprinkle half of the chopped nuts and half of the cinnamon on top of the batter.
- Pour the remaining batter on top and repeat the process with the remaining nuts and cinnamon.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Allow to cool in the pan for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
Serve warm with a dusting of powdered sugar or icing. Store in an airtight container for up to 3 days at room temperature, or refrigerate for up to a week.
