Description

Classic hummus is a creamy Middle Eastern dip that is perfect for snacking or as an appetizer. It’s easy to make and can be customized to your taste.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 can (15 oz) chickpeas, drained and rinsed
  • 1/4 cup tahini
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
  • Salt to taste
  • Water as needed
  • Paprika and olive oil for garnish

Instructions

  1. In a food processor, combine the chickpeas, tahini, olive oil, lemon juice, garlic, cumin, and salt.
  2. Blend until smooth, adding water as needed to reach the desired consistency.
  3. Taste and adjust seasoning if needed to suit your palate.
  4. Transfer to a serving dish, drizzle with olive oil, and sprinkle with paprika. Serve with pita bread or vegetables.

Notes

For an ultra-smooth consistency, peel the chickpeas before blending. Roasted garlic can be used for a milder flavor.
