- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup sour cream
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup chopped nuts (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13 inch baking pan.
- In a large bowl, mix together the flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and ground cinnamon.
- In another bowl, cream together the softened butter, eggs, and vanilla extract until smooth. Slowly mix in the sour cream.
- Combine the wet and dry ingredients until just combined, avoiding overmixing.
- Spread half of the batter into the prepared pan.
- In a small bowl, mix the brown sugar, chopped nuts (if using), and cinnamon. Sprinkle half over the first layer of batter.
- Spread the remaining batter on top, followed by the rest of the brown sugar mixture. Swirl with a knife.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Allow the cake to cool slightly before slicing to serve.
Notes
Best served warm or at room temperature. Store in an airtight container for up to 3 days or freeze individual slices for up to 2 months.
